Language issues.
Welcome to the
wonderful world of "you can't do/get that here"!!!
Yes, the
complications of languages and the fact that not all of us can't be fluent
in Spanish can strongly influence the experience you have with using your
Spanish SIM card.
AS WOULD BE EXPECTED,
ALL SPANISH SIM CARDS (NO MATTER WHERE YOU BUY THEM) COME WITH THE
VOICEMAIL SYSTEM IN SPANISH.
While the cell
providers here are right when they say "You are in Spain, you will
need to do that in Spanish", they should also be a bit more
understanding, especially with the millions of visitors to Spain who just
do not do "the language thing".
Those of you who have
been to Spain know that customer service here fluctuates between really
bad and non-existent.
When you buy a Spain
SIM card and do not read/speak/understand Spanish, you will be faced with
2 different language issues...
- 1) Getting the help system
into English (or another language of your choice).
- 2) Getting the voicemail
system into English (or another language of your choice).
-
- The MAIN
problem in doing this yourself if you do not understand Spanish is
that when you call customer service (for all 3 cell companies), you
are greeted by an automated voice system in Spanish (of course) so
if you do not understand what the recording is saying, it will be
VERY VERY difficult to even get to an operator, much less an English-speaking
one :(
-
- For the short-term visitor to
Spain, this may not be an issue as one can deal with the Spanish
recordings and even do without the voicemail for a short stay but
for the long-term and/or repeat visitor, the language problem can be
A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G and F-R-U-S-T-R-A-T-I-N-G at best!!!
-
- We sell the original SIMs in
their original language (SPANISH), it is up to the client to make
any changes in the languages on the SIM card.
-
- All SIMs come with a full
user manual in SPANISH but we do provide buyers with an ENGLISH
language quick guide for the most important features of the SIM
(checking call balance, getting into the e-mail system, adding call
credit, etc...). These are documents we e-mail to you when you make
a purchase. The quick guides are available ONLY to our customers and
can prove an invaluable resource.
-
- We do realize however that
some clients would prefer to have their voicemail system in English prior to
receiving their SIM cards. We also feel that our Spanish fluency
and expertise in dealing with the Spanish cell companies should not go unremunerated ;)
-
- So, on every item that we
sell which incudes a SIM card, you will see the option to have us
change the language of the voicemail for you prior to delivery.
-
- This is of course a paid and
100% optional service, skip it if you prefer by leaving the
voicemail in Spanish.
-
- PLEASE
NOTE: You may ask why we charge so much for this service.
Pricing has been based upon our experience with the
3 cell providers and the headaches that they give us when it comes
time to change the language of their SIMs.
-
- If the cost of this add-on
seems high to you, don't buy it. We charge what we charge due to the
difficulty of dealing with the cell providers in Spain. We often
have to spend over an hour and make various phone calls (after being
cut off a few times) in order to get the language options changed,
and WE SPEAK FLUENT SPANISH :O
- These services are only available pre-sale and
should only be added to your shopping cart if you are buying a SIM
from us as well. It is
not possible for us to change a language setting remotely after the
SIM has already been delivered to you.
-
- IF
YOU WANT YOUR VOICEMAIL SYSTEM IN ENGLISH AND DO NOT SPEAK SPANISH,
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OFFER, IT JUST MAY
SAVE YOUR SANITY!!
