orange/amena SIM expiration info

WARNING!!! DUE TO SPANISH ANTI-TERRORISM LAWS PASSED IN NOVEMBER 2007 TO AVOID UNLAWFUL USE OF SIM CARDS IN TERRORIST ATTACKS, THE SPANISH CELL COMPANIES ARE REQUIRING THAT ALL SIM CARDS BE CORRECLTY REGISTERED BY NOVEMBER 1st, 2008. THOSE SIM CARDS NOT REGISTERED WILL BE DEACTIVATED AND IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THEM REACTIVATED.

FURTHERMORE, THE SPANISH CELL COMPANIES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DEACTIVATE SIM CARDS THAT DO NOT SHOW ACTIVITY (USAGE) OVER THE COURSE OF AS LITTLE AS 2 MONTHS SO PLEASE BE SURE TO TOP-UP YOUR SIM CARD OR AT LEAST MAKE A PHONE CALL WITH IT AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH TO BE SURE NOT TO LOSE YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOREVER.

Normally, all orange/amena Spain SIMs have 2 expiration dates (for orange/amena SIMs, they are the same)...

1) The expiration date on the pre-paid calling credit - 12 months from activation/purchase date or last top-up.
2) The expiration date on the phone number - 12 months from activation/purchase date or last top-up.

HOWEVER, THE SPANISH CELL COMPANIES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DEACTIVATE SIM CARDS THAT DO NOT SHOW ACTIVITY (USAGE) OVER THE COURSE OF AS LITTLE AS 2 MONTHS SO PLEASE BE SURE TO TOP-UP YOUR SIM CARD OR AT LEAST MAKE A PHONE CALL WITH IT AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH TO BE SURE NOT TO LOSE YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOREVER.

Unless otherwise indicated, your orange/amena Spain SIM card has a natural life of 12 months from the purchase date.

· If you do not add any calling credit within an initial 12 month period, your remaining credit and your phone number will be lost. Lost numbers can NOT be recuperated by any means.

· Every time you add any calling credit (minimum recharges here in Spain for orange/amena are 5 Euros), you get another 12 months service life on  the pohone number and 12 months life on the call credit.

So, if you bought a SIM card from us and first use it on say July 1st, 2006, your credit and phone number would be good until June 30th, 2007 (granted you never topped up your SIM at all).

If you topped up your SIM on let's say August 15th, 2006 (perhaps before leaving Spain), you would then retain the old and newly added call credit as well as your phone number for another 12 months.
