orange/amena Spain SIM usage

No matter what your needs, orange/amena Spain SIMs are easy to use. The SIM cards have MANY fuctions and the users manual included with each SIM can guide you through the complete aray of services. This page is meant as a quick reference for the most popular functions of the SIM.

Here we stress the most important operations you may need to perform during your stay in Spain.

I) Recharging/Topping-up (adding funds to) Your SIM Card:
Adding more talk time to your Spain SIM Card can EASILY be done if your credit runs out or gets low. You may purchase recharge vouchers (called "tarjeta recarga") in many convenience stores, supermarkets, department stores, gas stations, cellphone stores, "Tabacos" shops (where they sell cigarettes and stamps), post offices, etc.... orange/amena recharge vouchers are readily available ALL OVER SPAIN. 
 
You can also purchase orange/amena recharges here on our website in the "SIM Services" section on our main menu (the "Adding Credit to Your SIM" sub-section).
 
If you run completely out of calling credit, you will still be able to receive incoming calls since they are all TOTALLY FREE.
 
You will know that your credit is running low since when you have less than 5 Euros calling credit left, a voice recording tells you to add more when you proceed to make a call. It is not necessary to add more immediately, it is just an advisory that your credit is running low and that you may want to add more soon.
 
Step 1 - Scratch off the grey area on your recharge card ("cupón de recarga"), revealing a 16 digit PIN code.
Step 2 - 
 
a) Punch in *122* followied by the sixteen digit code on the recharged card followed by the (pound/hash) # symbol. Then once you have the sequence of numbers and symbols on the screen such as *122*5555555555555555#, hit the talk (launch call) key. Your newly added credit info will appear on the phone screen.

b) Call toll free number "232" from your mobile phone and follow the instructions. You will be asked to enter the secret number, and you will be told that the new credit has been added.

If you have any doubts, instructions can be found on the back of recharge vouchers.

Depending on where you purchase top-ups, you may or may not be given an actual cupon as pictured above. Some top-up resellers will print your 16 digit recharge code on a receipt. It is all the same as long as you get the 16 digit "código de recarga".

II) Checking your call credit balance:
 
You may check your credit at any time. There are 2 options for checking credit:
Either...

Punch in *111# and then hit the send (launch call key). Your curent call credit balance will appear on the phone screen.

or...

Dial toll free "232" or "2323" from your mobile phone.

You are allowed 5 free credit checks every month. Additional checks will cost 15 cents which will be subtracted from your prepaid call credit. Starting on the 1st of each month, you will be allowed 5 more credit checks.

III) Retrieving your voicemail:

PLEASE NOTE: all orange/amena SIM cards (no matter where you buy them) are preset to Spanish. When you order your SIM card from us you can use our custom SIM card shop and have us change the voicmail to English or another language for you if you like.

To check your voicemail, simply dial 242 from your cell phone.
