MoviStar Spain SIM expiration info
WARNING!!! DUE TO
SPANISH ANTI-TERRORISM LAWS PASSED IN NOVEMBER 2007 TO AVOID UNLAWFUL USE OF
SIM CARDS IN TERRORIST ATTACKS, THE SPANISH CELL COMPANIES ARE REQUIRING
THAT ALL SIM CARDS BE CORRECLTY REGISTERED BY NOVEMBER 1st, 2008. THOSE SIM
CARDS NOT REGISTERED WILL BE DEACTIVATED AND IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET
THEM REACTIVATED.
FURTHERMORE, THE
SPANISH CELL COMPANIES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DEACTIVATE SIM CARDS THAT DO NOT SHOW
ACTIVITY (USAGE) OVER THE COURSE OF AS LITTLE AS 2 MONTHS SO PLEASE BE SURE TO
TOP-UP YOUR SIM CARD OR AT LEAST MAKE A PHONE CALL WITH IT AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH
TO BE SURE NOT TO LOSE YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOREVER.
Normally, all MoviStar Spain SIMs have 2 expiration
dates...
- 1)
The expiration date on the pre-paid calling credit - 6 months from
activation/purchase date or last top-up.
- 2) The expiration date on the phone
number - 7.5 months from activation/purchase date or last top-up.
- Unless otherwise indicated, your
MoviStar Spain SIM card has a natural life of 7.5 months from the purchase date.
-
HOWEVER,
THE SPANISH CELL COMPANIES HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO DEACTIVATE SIM CARDS THAT DO
NOT SHOW ACTIVITY (USAGE) OVER THE COURSE OF AS LITTLE AS 2 MONTHS SO PLEASE
BE SURE TO TOP-UP YOUR SIM CARD OR AT LEAST MAKE A PHONE CALL WITH IT AT
LEAST ONCE A MONTH TO BE SURE NOT TO LOSE YOUR PHONE NUMBER FOREVER.
- · If you do not add any calling
credit within an initial 6 month period, your remaining credit will be lost.
-
- · You then have another 1.5 months to
recharge (top-up) your SIM Card in order to retain your Spanish cell phone
number.
-
- · If you fail to do so, you will
lose the number and the SIM card will be useless. Lost numbers can NOT
be recuperated by any means.
-
- · Every time you add any calling
credit (minimum recharges here in Spain for MoviStar are 5 Euros), you get
another 7.5 months service life on the phone number and 6 months life
on the call credit.
-
- So, if you bought a SIM card from us
and firsdt use it on say July 1st, 2004, your credit would be good until
January 1st, 2005 and your phone number valid until February 15th 2005 (granted
you never topped up your SIM at all).
-
- If you topped up your SIM on let's
say August 15th, 2004 (perhaps before leaving Spain), you would then retain
the old and newly added call credit for another 6 months and the phone
number would be valid for another full 7.5 months.
